Job description 

Are you a Sports Instructor, Sports Coach or Graduate seeking opportunities to work in local schools?

Humly are currently supporting specialist schools who offer alternative provision to young people in Havant, Waterlooville and Portsmouth and due to the increased demand for staff, we are now looking to recruit passionate individuals who want to work within specialist education to support disengaged learners who cannot access mainstream education, and what better way to support them than through sport and exercise.

 

What can you expect your day to look like?

As a Sports Coach / Teaching Assistant within an SEN school you can expect a busy day - engaging with pupils who can often find learning a challenge, but within sports you are able to engage their interests in a different way.  Then, when you aren't helping support PE lessons; you could be in the classroom supporting a class teacher and sometimes working on a 1:1 basis.

You will receive ongoing support from the senior leadership and pastoral team - and be part of a strong teaching team who are doing all they can to help their learners be the best they can be, gaining confidence and allowing them to believe that, despite their challenges, they can still go on and achieve wonderful things in life.

Requirements of working as an SEN Learning Support Assistant:

  • enthusiastic and organised individuals with excellent communication skills and a good level of education
  • at least 6 months experience of working in either an education, childcare or care setting
  • you will ideally have classroom-based experience, although this is not essential, but you must be confident supporting individuals with challenging behaviours
